ABOUT ME-ACERCA DE MI
Performance Artist, researcher and Art professor
· I am Natalia Restrepo Restrepo, performance artist, researcher and art professor with an established trajectory in Colombia, my country of origin, I have been an active artist in the areas of performance art, activism and gender, exhibiting my work in Spain, Italy and Colombia from 1995 to date.
Since 1992 I have also been working as a teacher and professor, in the education of visual artists, actors and performers in different schools and universities in Colombia. I am currently an associate professor of art at the National University of Colombia (Medellín campus) And I work remotely from Ann Arbor, Michigan, where I have been living since July 2017, when I migrated to the U.S.
My research has been in the áreas of action art, performance art and political theater in recent decades, in Colombia and in Latin America. I am interested in analyzing micropolitics of resistance, dissidence or civil disobedience, in dictatorial or totalitarian contexts and the representation of the body of the disappeared for political reasons in the continent. I believe it is a crucial issue to understand the ethos of our countries of origin and the Latin diaspora in the United States.
